The Death & Life of John F. Donovan

Xavier Dolan, the child prodigy of Cannes, will not release his new title at the French festival. After eliminating the very same Jessica Chastain At Eternity’s Gate from the assembly of his ‘The Death and Life of John F. Donovan’, the director seems to continue fighting with the film in an editing process with which he has been fighting since the beginning of 2017.

“The film is still in postproduction,” he said in an explanatory email sent to IndieWire. “I wanted to send her to Cannes, and I did. But The Night Comes For Us some last minute changes made us decide that it was not the ideal place for the presentation of the film, and I can not say that I do not agree. ”

Dolan, who premiered at Cannes in 2009 when he was only twenty years old with ‘I killed my mother’, has captivated his audience with titles like Zeroville ‘The Imaginary Loves’, ‘Laurence Anyways’, ‘Mommy’ and ‘Only the End’ of the world’.
