Michael Haneke portrays the secrets of a European bourgeois family locked in its own mansion in Calais. It can not be a coincidence that the decision to place Everybody Knows the action is precisely in this French city, where there has been a camp of up to 10,000 immigrants waiting to enter the United Kingdom. The family protagonist, owner of a major construction company, can not be more alien to that reality.

The Austrian director again addresses Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Louis Trintignant, along with Mathieu Kassovitz, Franz Rogowski and Fantine Harduin.
