Green Book

The 43rd edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) ended today with two winners: the film Green Book, by US director Peter Farrelly, and films The Conjuring 2 produced by streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and YouTube.

Green Book today won the TIFF Audience Award, which, although it is a non-competitive festival, allows the audience that comes to the screenings to vote to Book Club determine the audience’s favorite movie.

It is an award that does not have the glitter of the awards granted by other film festivals, such as the Golden Lion of the Venice Exhibition, the Golden Palm of Cannes or the Golden Shell of San Sebastian, partly because TIFF does not have a competition section.

But the Audience Award has a special importance for the studios: in the past, the public of Toronto has anticipated the films that will be the most awarded in The Nun the Academy Awards of Hollywood, so in the world of the TIFF cinema it has been Become a barometer of the most successful movies you can have.
