Extremity

While DiBlasi is no stranger to the genre of horror (having directed and produced films like Last Shift and Midnight Meat Train), he He’s Out There insists that there aren’t rules or lessons that you can transfer from one scary project to the next.

“Horror affects everyone differently and there is just no one way to scare someone,” he said. “I think the takeaway is horror fans Blindspotting want to go on some kind of emotional rollercoaster, they want to feel a range from joy to dread. Some want to be grossed out others want to be brought to tears. But I think what we’re all looking for is to feel something visceral in a lot of different ways.”

That said, the filmmaker believes that the project was sort of like a spiritual follow-up to his 2009 directorial debut, Dread, a Hell Fest movie (based on a short story by Clive Barker) about three college students who set out to find out what people fear the most.
