Bad Times at the El Royale

The future of the X-Men has been one of the topics that has raised the most interest and discussion regarding the purchase of the assets of 21st Century Fox by Disney.

After several comings and goings in the buying process, it seemed a few weeks Zootopia ago that the future of the mutants was beginning to clear up when Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed his intention to group all Marvel properties under one study.

Said movement, according to the estimated terms for the agreement between the companies, would probably turn The New Mutants into the last installment of Fox for the franchise. However, while waiting for the agreement to materialize, the study intends to continue developing its projects for the mutant saga.

According to Dark Phoenix director and producer of the franchise, Simon Kinberg, inside Fox is still working on new films beyond The New Mutants movies, and yes, that includes the eternally postponed film of Gambit.

“Gambito has a great script and we are looking forward Black Panther to starting the movie early next year,” Kinberg told IGN. “Now we’re working on the Multiple Man script.”

When asked about the film focused on X-Force, which had been anticipated in the framework of the release of Deadpool 2, Kinberg said he is about to start its development. “We’re just waiting for Drew Goddard to release his movie (Bad Times at the El Royale) in a few more weeks and then start working on that script to direct,” Kinberg said.

That is, Fox would have plans for at least three more films of the mutants after the debut of The New Mutants in August 2019.

In that scenario, Fox’s intentions for the franchise is not clear, because although Bleeding Steel Disney had previously claimed that it intends to release all of Fox’s ready Peppermint or developing films at the time of the merger, nothing ensures that these new mutant projects will Halloween reach materialize within those deadlines.
